God Speaks, Are You Listening?

Are you aware that God says, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways…so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isa. 55:8,9)? This tells us man must not think for God. But how can we know the thoughts and ways of God? Well, the scripture itself answers that question: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (2 Timothy 3:16,17)."

Indeed, God has revealed to us all that we need to be right religious. And what a priceless treasure lies (too often unused) on tables and shelves of homes throughout the lands of the world! How blind so many people are to the wisdom in the Bible lying neglected within easy access to each and every one!

We must walk in God's ways to please Him and gain eternal life. Hear the Word of the Lord spoken to Israel: "But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My Voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you'" (Jer. 7:23,24). Israel failed to comply with God's demands and consequently fell from favor. We, too, have been commanded to to walk in the light of His Word and to walk in wisdom that is from above (Gal. 5:16,25; Col. 2:6; Jno. 12:35; Eph. 5:8; Phil. 3:16; Col. 4:5). If we wish to have fellowship with God, we must walk in the light (1 Jno. 1:7) and our worship must be in spirit and in truth (Jno. 4:24).

Does your worship demonstrate that you are listening to God rather than men? If God has not taught you through the Gospel of Christ to do what you are doing, how can you say that you are following God's way instead of doing as you please? Let us acknowledge God in all our course of life, and let Him direct our paths (Prov. 3:6). We only have one life-one chance to get it right. Thus, we need to get serious about getting right with God.
